HAP Supplies 27 Health Centres with Home Care Equipment

In an effort to increase accessibility and quality of healthcare services, HAP has equipped 27 selected healthcare centres in Tirana, Durrës, Elbasan, Berat, Korçë, and Shkodër with the necessary equipment to provide Home Care Service. This investment aims to assist persons with chronic diseases and the elderly who are unable to visit healthcare centres to receive the necessary services.

The distributed medical and paramedical equipment ranges widely, from venous and urinary catheters to shower chairs, wheelchairs, and lymphedema treatment devices. These items not only facilitate the work of healthcare personnel during service provision but also enhance the quality of life for patients who utilize some of these devices according to their needs.

Ms. Sajmira Aderaj, a Nursing Specialist with the HAP Project, stated that “the provision of this equipment is particularly important now that the staff of these centres are being trained on standard nursing procedures, enabling the practical application of all procedures that nurses learn during training“.

Meanwhile, home care is already being provided in 58 healthcare centres in Tirana, Durrës, Peshkopi, Mat, Bulqizë, Elbasan, Korçë, Berat, Shkodër, Fier, and Lushnjë, where HAP has facilitated staff training and equipment supply during the years 2021-2023.

When you go to a patient’s home, identify the needs they have and are in a position to offer something that improves their life, it is not only you as a member of the medical staff that feels good, but the patient feels good as well because they feel appreciated and valued”, says Ms. Liri Kastrati, Director of the Xhafzotaj Health Centre.

Home Care remains one of the priorities of the HAP Project and of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and as such it is expected to be expanded nationwide with HAP supporting 62 healthcare centres in the Project’s two upcoming years.
