As part of the efforts to improve home care services, the HAP project has provided 32 Health Centres across 10 Local Units of Healthcare with equipment designed to facilitate and enhance the delivery of Home Care Services.
This investment marks the next step in expanding the implementation of this new healthcare service and follows the training of family doctors and nurses in providing Home Care Service for chronic patients who are unable to attend health centres in person.
The health centres benefiting from this initiative were selected by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Tirana, Kavajë, Elbasan, Pogradec, Lezhë, Mirditë, Kukës, Dibër, Mat, and Bulqizë.
Specifically, the distributed equipment includes:
- Equipment sets for Home Healthcare teams, easing the provision of healthcare services at home;
- Laptops for Home Healthcare coordinators, improving efficiency in case tracking and management;
- IT equipment for the relevant Local Units of Healthcare, enabling better data management and communication between structures.
The home care equipment set consists of 25 essential tools for service delivery, including wheelchairs, toilet/shower chairs, crutches, walking frames, air mattresses, air cushions, lymphoedema cuffs, nebulisers, microsurgery sets, rapid urine test kits, nasogastric tubes, ear irrigation sets, urinary catheters, enema bags, and many others.
This investment not only enhances healthcare services but also improves the quality of life for patients who require ongoing care at home.
Doctors and nurses involved in this essential service will now have the necessary tools to provide better quality home care services.
This initiative represents another step towards a more accessible and inclusive primary healthcare system in Albania.
