The Health for All (HAP) project is advancing its programme of accredited training sessions aimed at strengthening the capacities of psychologists working in Albania’s primary health care system.
The initiative supports the effective implementation of the newly approved Manual for Psychologists Working in Primary Health Care, equipping professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to deliver quality mental health services within socio-health centres.
The training, delivered by Prof. Assoc. Artemisi Shehu and MSc. Alberta Shkëmbi brings together psychologists from the Local Units of Health Care (LUHCs) of Tiranë, Durrës, Kavajë, Elbasan, Shkodër, Lezhë, Pogradec, Korçë, Lushnjë, Fier, and Vlorë, including professionals working in socio-health centres and in the mental health units of LUHCs. Approximately 70 psychologists will participate in the programme. Each training session lasts three days, with six effective hours each, and is accredited by the Agency for Quality Assurance of Health and Social Services (ASCK).
The programme combines presentations with interactive discussions, group work, role plays and clinical case studies. Training topics include the role of psychologists in PHC, multidisciplinary teamwork, psychological assessment, brief interventions, case management, referral pathways, ethics and professional self-care, enabling participants to translate the Manual into everyday practice.
This activity builds on HAP’s longstanding support to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in strengthening integrated services in primary health care and in improving access to quality mental health services in the community.
