As part of strengthening home healthcare services, the HAP project has equipped 60 Health Centres in 14 Local Units of Health Care with the necessary tools to provide higher-quality and more dignified care at home for the beneficiaries of this service.
This investment represents an important step in expanding this new service and precedes the training programme for family doctors and nurses, who will be trained to deliver home care for chronically ill patients who are unable to attend health centres physically.
The beneficiary centres were selected by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and are located in Tirana, Durrës, Kavaja, Elbasan, Berat, Shkodra, Lezha, Mirdita, Kurbin, Malësi e Madhe, Fier, Lushnja, Mallakastër and Vlora.
The distributed equipment set includes 25 essential items, such as wheelchairs, toilet/shower chairs, crutches, walking aids, air mattresses and cushions, lymphedema cuffs, nebulisers, microsurgery sets, rapid urine tests, nasogastric tubes, urinary catheters, enema bags, ear irrigation sets and many others. Each health centre was also equipped with one ECG machine and an oxygen concentrator.
This investment not only enhances the quality of healthcare services in the country but also improves the lives of patients who require continuous care at home. With these tools, doctors and nurses will be better equipped to provide professional, safe, and patient-centred care in the home environment.
