As previously communicated, reinforcing the role of nurses in primary healthcare, is at the base of two HAP outputs, namely: update of the role of nurse in PHC and establishment of a new master program in family nursing. The respective technical groups of each intervention and international experts have worked in parallel.
Based on the context analysis carried out earlier, a first draft on the generic role of family health nurse has been elaborated that foresees a greater role of nurses on managing non-communicable diseases and health promotion.
As for the new master in family nursing, the working group has finalized the structure of the new curriculum, including the title of the courses and a description of the learning outcomes per course.
It is important to stress that the curriculum of the new master program is in full accordance with the focus of updated role of family nurse practice.
