In July and September, Mrs. Chantal Nicod, Head of the Health and Governance Sector at the Swiss Embassy, accompanied by Mrs. Zhenihen Zanaj, National Health Program Officer (Swiss Embassy) and Dr. Besim Nuri, Health for All Project Manager, visited Patos and Kuman HC (Fier region) and HC No. 1 in Tirana.
The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the reality of providing primary health care services in the conditions of COVID-19 and in particular with the PHC role in the management of suspected/confirmed cases with COVID-19 infection. Mrs. Nicod met with the management teams of each health center, who presented her the online consultation system for both COVID patients and other patients in order to avoid unnecessary visits to the health center facilities.
Since the beginning of the pandemics in Albania, the Swiss Embassy, through the Health for All Project, has supported the health professionals in coping with COVID-19 infection, through:
– Donation of ventilators for Covid-19 hospitals in Albania;
– distribution of surgical masks for about 100 HC teams in Tirana, Dibra and Fier regions, as well as information/awareness materials for COVID-19 infection (posters, leaflets);
– drafting and online publication of educational/training materials on COVID-19 targeting the primary health care teams and the general public.
