Switzerland supports Albania in the development of a democratic society, a competitive economy and for country’s European integration. Cooperation between the two countries started in 1992, with the opening of the Swiss Embassy in Tirana. Switzerland’s engagement in Albania’s health sector started with the strengthening capacities and promoting continuing medical education in the country. The work of Health for All Project (HAP) is in synergy with other Swiss interventions in Albania that aim at improving local governance, urban infrastructure, skiles development and social inclusion and protection.

Since its founding in 1943, the Swiss Tropical Institute (STI), now Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) has become a world-renowned Institution for teaching, research and services in the field of International Health Development. Over 700 colleagues from 40 nations work worldwide for the Swiss TPH in research, teaching and service provision with the single goal to facilitate and contribute to health development worldwide with a strong focus on low and middle income countries. Their goal is improve public health, strengthen health systems and reduce poverty through partnerships, mutual learning, contribution and achievement

Terres de hommes Albania

Ensuring children are effectively protected against trafficking, exploitation and violence is the aim of Terre des hommes’ work in Albania, in close partnership with government institutions, civil society organisations as well as families and communities. Its direct interventions are aimed at consolidating the national system of child protection and offering complete and long-lasting solutions.

Save the Children has been working in Albania since 1999, earning a reputation for delivering quality programs for children and establishing strong and influential relationships with government and civil society networks. Its programs cover Basic Education and Early Childhood Care and Development, Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Health and Nutrition and Humanitarian, implemented in 10 districts of Albania, both urban and rural areas
